The International Market for Advanced Technologies, SITEF '93, will take place in Toulouse on 19-22 October 1993.

This major annual French fair and technology product exhibition (including contributors from 17 countries) provides a unique opportunity for industries, research organizations, and decision/policy makers to examine and discuss the key features of European technology as it exists in the marketplace, understand current research efforts and consider future goals and objectives. The four-day event also provides the setting for a series of international colloquia, international symposia, RTD forums, plus a variety of associated conferences organized by numerous organizations.

The European Economic Community is this year's official SITEF partner. This initiative is intended to highlight the entry into force of the Single Market in 1993 and the crucial role research and advanced technologies will play in the success of the vast European marketplace. The Community presence at SITEF will include a 600 square-meter display area (Hall 4, Aisle D), illustrating Community activities in the sectors of industry, scientific research and development.

On neighbouring stands, the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and other European research centres including CERN, ESA, and ESO will further enhance European participation.

A series of European Conferences, organized with the cooperation of the Commission of the European Communities, will take place during SITEF. The themes of these three meetings are: "Cleaner technologies for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BRITE/EURAM, CRAFT workshop)"; "Training, Mobility and inter-regional cooperation in Southern Europe" (speakers include Commission Vice-President Professor A. Ruberti); and "European Research Organizations and Industry".

Also scheduled during SITEF '93 are international symposia on "Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and European Regions", the PNPM '93 symposia (Petri Nets and Performance Models), and special-subject meetings on materials, environment, electronics, and life sciences and technologies. Other related Conferences include meetings on the following topics: Integrated Logistic Support and Systems at Optimal Costs; Process Engineering at the Core of Industry; Engineers in the Development of Europe; and New Trends in Non-Destructive Tests.

National or Regional Delegations officially present at the event will include South Africa, Italy, Austria, Spain/Catalonia, Hungary, Tunisia, USA/Detroit, Canada/Quebec, Germany, Germany/Friburg, Moravia (Czech Republic), the Commission of the European Communities, UNO, Romania, and the Southern European Regions.
