28 April 1994 - 28 April 1994
Germany
A major European conference to mark the tenth anniversary of the European Association for the Transfer of Technology, Innovation and Industrial Information (TII) and the operational launch of the European Community's SPRINT 2 programme for innovation and technology transfer will be held in Hanover on 28-29 April 1994.

The conference, on the theme "A Review Conference of Technology Transfer Practice in Europe", will be held on the two days immediately following the Hanover Industrial Fair, thus giving participants the opportunity to attend both events. Its objectives include:

- An assessment of technology transfer and related innovation-support in Europe during the last ten years;
- An examination of state-of-the-art technology transfer support methodologies;
- The anticipation of the possible developments in technology transfer to the end of the century;
- Provision of an opportunity for SPRINT network partners to meet, to interact with other SPRINT networks, and to make new professional contacts with other conference participants.

The conference will feature two half-days of plenary sessions and two half-days of parallel sessions. The first plenary session will review developments over the last ten years in relation to European initiatives in ITT, technology transfer mechanisms and professions, and technology transfer demand from industry. The second plenary session will cover evolving techniques and new markets for technology transfer, trends in corporate innovation strategies and transfer services, and public policy priorities in innovation and technology transfer.

Papers are invited for the planned series of eight parallel sessions. Each session will present five or six papers. Themes will be determined on the basis of the papers proposed, with preference given to those offering critical reviews and empirical case studies which yield practical ideas or lessons for the conference participants.

Indicative themes for the parallel sessions (other topics may be proposed) are:

- Theories and models for the practice of technology transfer;
- New technology-based firms;
- Consultancy services supporting technology transfer;
- Innovation financing;
- Emerging technology transfer markets;
- SME policy strategies;
- Research-industry technology transfer;
- Central and Eastern Europe;
- Intellectual property and licensing;
- Transnational technology transfer;
- Regional policies and infrastructure for technology transfer;
- Regional technology diffusion networks.

A bound workbook of all conference papers in their original language (English or French) will be supplied to all participants before the conference.
A resume of the proposed paper (20-40 lines) should be submitted to:
