European roundtable on cleaner production to be held in Ireland

The eighth European roundtable on cleaner production (ERCP), hosted by the Clean technology centre and Cork institute of technology, will be held in Cork, Ireland on 9 to 11 October 2002.
Some 400 to 500 participants are expected to attend. Workshops will be held on 34 topics related to cleaner and more sustainable production and consumption, including:
- Environmental management accounting and finance mechanisms for cleaner production;
- Cleaner products and services;
- Integrated product policy;
- Sustainable enterprises;
- Corporate social responsibility.
Participants will include practitioners in cleaner production, researchers, environmental managers, business leaders, consultants, policy makers and teachers.
Following three keynote lectures, participants will form themselves into smaller groups for two types of workshop:
- discussion centred workshops with a limited number of presentations
- information exchange workshops where the primary emphasis is on the presentation of models, theories and results.
Similar roundtables are organised in the USA, Canada and the Asia-Pacific region in addition to individual national roundtables. The European event, held this year in Cork, has previously been held in Graz, Rotterdam, Kalundborg, Oslo, Lisbon, Budapest and Lund.For more information, please consult the following web address:
