The Austrian 'kick-off' conference for FP6 will take place in Vienna on 2 October. High level representatives from the European Commission and Parliament will present the objectives and rules for successful participation in the Sixth EU Framework programme (FP6). The responsible federal ministers and the President of the Austrian economic chamber will explain the Austrian goals for involvement in the European research and technology activities.

Target groups for the conference are those eligible, from Austria and other countries, for participation in the EU Framework programme. Participants from the candidate countries, south eastern European countries and the western Balkan states are particularly welcome. Representatives from industry, universities and other research establishments are expected to attend, along other organisations with a strategic interest in research and technological development.

National Contact Points (NCPs) and the Austrian delegates from the programme committees will be on hand to answer queries during the conference. Also, NCPs from the candidate countries and from other European countries will be available to provide information on the research potential of their countries and the respective opportunities for cooperation.
