The Polish network 'Energie-Cités', in collaboration with the city of Cracow, the region of Malopolska and the European Commission, is hosting its eighth annual conference in Cracow on 3 and 4 April 2003. The title for this year's event is: 'sustainable energy management in municipal buildings and equipment'.

The event will provide an opportunity to find out about successful initiatives in the field, form public-private partnerships and develop sustainable cooperation between towns and cities in the EU and central and eastern European countries.

The main themes will be how to manage energy in a sustainable way in public buildings and vehicle fleets, water treatment facilities, and street lighting; and how to encourage money saving schemes, a reduction in fossil fuel use, and the use of renewable energy sources.

The event is intended for representatives from public buildings such as schools and administrative offices, municipal networks and associations, private sector firms such as energy companies and banks, and European and national governments.

An exchange forum will be organised during the conference in order to develop cooperation between towns and cities from the European Union and central and east European countries.For further information and registration, please consult the following web address:
