The IRC-IRE central unit and the region of Abruzzo are jointly organising a workshop entitled 'clustering as a driver of innovation at a regional level', to take place on 26 and 27 February in Pescara, Italy.

Clusters have become a key component of innovation policy, and the event will present the rationale behind policies to support their establishment, along with concrete examples of the achievements of regional clusters.

Specific presentations include:
- the cluster based regional innovation strategy of Yorkshire and the Humber;
- the aerospace cluster that has been created in the Basque country;
- the Italian industrial districts, exemplified by the Castel Goffredo hosiery district;
