The Commission of the European Communities, within the framework of the THERMIE programme is organizing a meeting on energy efficiency in the building materials sector. Entitled "Promotion of industrial cooperation in the building materials sector in Romania", the workshop will take place in Bucharest on 18-19 April 1994.

The seminar aims to promote energy efficient technologies for buildings. The outdated technology in the building sector in Romania causes high energy consumption in buildings as well as a high degree of atmospheric pollution. Immediate intervention is required in both the industrial and construction sectors.

This seminar will provide an opportunity for manufactures from the European Union and Romania who are involved in the building materials sector to exchange information and plan possible further collaboration and technology transfer.

During the meeting, representatives from the EU and Romania will present current practices, policies and technologies, focusing on the possibilities for change.
