The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will hold its annual meeting, the world's largest interdisciplinary science forum, in Washington DC from 17 to 21 February. The title of this year's event is 'The Nexus: where science meets society'.

Scientists from around the world will attend the event, which will offer topical lectures as well as a wide range of symposia on subjects as diverse as anthropology, computational sciences, emerging diseases, security, coastlines and engineering.
