A workshop on combined heat and power (CHP) cogeneration will take place on 17-19 October 1994 in Ringsted, Denmark under the auspices of the SAVE programme.

The workshop is intended to increase the profile of CHP in the European energy policy debate and will provide an opportunity for broad discussion on current CHP issues. Participants will include experts, SAVE contractors, policy makers and CHP companies. Both Western and Eastern European countries will be represented. The objectives of the workshop are to:
- Prepare a European energy map which indicates potential growth of CHP;
- Exchange and disseminate information from SAVE case studies;
- Identify economic, institutional and technical barriers to CHP.

The workshop conclusions and recommendations will contribute to the development of a European policy for CHP and cogeneration.
