A training course on "Radon indoor risk and remedial actions" will take place in Stockholm on 5-9 September 1994. The course is being jointly organized by the European Commission and the Swedish Radiation Protection Institute as part of the Commission's European Radiation Protection Education and Training programme (ERPET) within the framework of the Nuclear Fission Safety programme (1990-1994).

The course will provide an overview of knowledge on radon, including the scientific basis and practical methods of monitoring and mitigation as well as recent and current developments in radon research. The following topics will be covered:
- Origins of radon;
- Detection and calibration;
- Health effects;
- Radon risk mapping and mitigation.

The course is intended for young scientists who are examining the problem of indoor exposure to radon as well as those who have responsibility for the management of research in this area.
