A seminar entitled "Access to EU research and technology development programmes for SMEs" will take place in Salzburg on 29-30 September 1994. The seminar is being organized by the European Business and Innovation Centre Network (EBN), Technology Innovation Information (TII) and the Austrian Bureau for International Research and Technology cooperation, with the support of the SPRINT programme of the European Commission.

The seminar is designed to provide a practical guide for SMEs which intend to participate in EU research programmes. The seminar will offer guidance on how to decipher invitations to tender, prepare an accurate application and thereby improve the chances of being successfully selected.

The seminar will cover the following areas:

- Biotechnology;
- Energy technologies;
- Information technologies and telecommunications;
- Industrial technologies;
- Sectoral industrial technologies;
- Material production and processing.

The seminar will draw on the experience of a panel of speakers and will review a number of well-chosen case studies to demonstrate how to overcome the complexities of EU-sponsored research. The question of finding a partner and forming a consortium will also be explored.
