Conference on citizenship and cultural identities in the EU

An international conference on 'citizenship and cultural identities in the EU: old questions, new answers' will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, on 18 and 19 October 2007.
The event is organised by the EU-funded 'Towards FP7 / Enlarging the SSH [social sciences and humanities] Research Agenda' (ESSHRA) project. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers involved in ongoing Europe-wide projects on issues of identity and civil society, gender, migration, youth, and religion/values, both to share information, and to discuss their work's potential in terms of developing new strategies of comparative research and theoretical insights.
The conference will address the following areas:
- migration and citizenship;
- gender, diversity and citizenship;
- civil society, identity and citizenship;
- the cultural politics of 'youth';
