The European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS 2008) will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 19 to 26 September. About 130 students aged between 14 and 21, from 39 different countries, will compete for prizes and honorary awards.

EUCYS 2008 will be composed of a range of meetings like science cafés; meetings with previous Nobel laureates and previous winners of EUCYS. This year's contestants will present their projects in the fields of sustainable energy production, new pharmaceuticals, protection of the environment, modern health care products and new ways of transportation, as well as more traditional areas such as physics, mathematics and chemistry. Professional patent agents and innovation consultants will be available to evaluate ideas and projects.

In addition, to mark the EUCYS's 20th anniversary, the European Commission decided to award a Prize for International Cooperation, using this special event as a vehicle to promote international cooperation amongst young people with a vested interest in science.For further information, please visit:
