A conference on 'EU-funded projects and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC): standards, benefits and implementations' will be held on 30 September in Darmstadt, Germany.

Geospatial information is playing an increasingly integrated role in mainstream information and communication technology (ICT). On regional, national and pan-European levels, spatial data infrastructure projects have been implemented to guarantee an efficient and effective use of geographical information.

The event will look at such questions as:
- What role will standards play in future ICT, environmental and research programmes of the European Commission?
- How is the OGC participating in this process?
- What are the experiences and results of some of the projects funded by the European Commission?
- What might be the benefits of using standards while participating in such projects?

Speakers are set to include representatives from the OGC, European Commission and a number of stakeholders. The event is free, but registration is required. The conference will be held in English. For further information, please visit:
