'Science against poverty', La Granja, Spain
The event will raise the issue of the role of scientific research (particularly of social sciences) and innovation in alleviating poverty and social exclusion. Special attention will be paid to how European and national research and innovation policies should be designed and adapted so that they reflect a responsible compromise between science programmes and efforts to fight poverty and exclusion. The role of the socioeconomic sciences in understanding poverty dynamics and potential solutions will also be a focal point of the conference.
The outcomes of the conference will be presented by the Spanish Minister of Science and Innovation Cristina Garmendia at the Competitiveness Council meeting on 26 May 2010 in Brussels. The results will also be disseminated to European and international research and technology development stakeholders. For further information, please visit:
