European Conference on Rare Diseases 2010, Krakow, Poland
In its fifth edition, the event will highlight the state of affairs in the sector. Day one features a networking meeting that will enable stakeholders and experts to meet and share future projects. Days two and three are divided into two half-day sessions. Themes include:
- national plan and strategies for rare diseases,
- centres of expertise and European Reference Networks,
- 'science from the bench to the bedside',
- information and medical education,
- The European Committee for Rare Diseases,
- rare diseases in Central and Eastern Europe,
- services for patients, families, and carers.
The conference is part of the POLKA ('Patients' consensus on preferred policy scenarii for rare diseases') project. The project facilitates the consultation of the European rare disease community at large, with the aim of building consensus on preferred public health policy scenarios for rare diseases.
The partially EU-funded ORPHANET ('Portal for rare diseases and orphan drugs') will also present a workshop at the event.
