The 11th edition of Kielecki Festiwal Nauki (Kielce Science Festival) is taking place across several venues in Poland between 15 and 30 September 2010.

In an established tradition of science fairs around the world, the aim of the Festival is to promote science, culture and art through a rich programme of some 200 events chosen to appeal to all manner of audiences, especially the youth.

The programme has a little something for everyone, from physics and chemistry demonstrations to a master class in martial arts. Visitors to the Festival can even participate in a dramatic history show called 'From Sobieski to the year 1939'. John III Sobieski was a popular 17th century monarch of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

The Festival Gala event, being held on Moniuszko Square in Kielce (26 September), gives participants the opportunity to learn more about EU programmes and initiatives, such as Enterprise Europe Network which helps small businesses make the most of the European marketplace, and about what CORDIS is doing to boost the transfer of knowledge from science to business.

This year, the Science Festival is being held in five locations simultaneously: Busko, Checiny, Kielce, Sedziszów and Sandomierz. Last year, events connected to the Festival were visited by nearly 70,000 people. For further information, please visit:
