15th International Symposium on Biodeterioration and Biodegradation, Vienna, Austria
Biodeterioration and biodegradation are a field which cover the biological causes of deterioration or degradation. These causes may be macro- or microbiological, whose origins may be aerial, aquatic, or terrestrial. The effects of these processes may include corrosion, fouling, rotting, decay, infection, disfigurement, toxification, weakening or even liquefication, detoxification or mineralisation.
Keynote speeches at the conference will cover a variety of topics, including:
- 'Biofouling - unsolved problems, insufficient approaches and some light at the horizon';
- 'Microbial biodeterioration through space and time';
- 'Safeguarding the crew and engineering systems for human missions';
- 'Biogenic transformation of rock, minerals, metals and radionuclides';
- 'From plant to book leaves: microbial exploitation of cellulose';
- 'Biodeterioration of cultural heritage buildings in tropical and sub-tropical climates';
- 'Designing bacteria for bioremediation: from genetic engineering to synthetic biology';
- 'Metaproteomics: linking microbial diversity to ecosystem functioning'.For further information, please visit: http://www.biotec.boku.ac.at/14837.html(opens in new window)
