A Training Course on Clinical Optimization and Radiation Protection in Digital Radiography will take place on 22-25 February 1995 in Trier, Germany. It is organized within the framework of the Community ERPET (European radiation protection education and training) programme in order to promote, maintain and extend Community expertise in specific areas of radiation protection.

The training course will provide a comprehensive presentation of the latest in digital imaging techniques including digital rotation angiography and digital subtraction angiography with a continuous moving table. The effect of different parameters, such as the dose, on the image quality will be emphasized. Possibilities of post-processing will be demonstrated at different workstations.

Specific course topics will include:

- General aspects of optimization and radiation protection;
- Digital image intensifier radiography: manufacturers' aspects, clinical aspects for digital protection radiography, and clinical aspects for digital subtraction angiography;
- Computed radiography: manufacturers' and clinical aspects;
- Impact of post-processing on optimization and radiation protection;
- Optimization and radiation protection in the field of chest and skeletal radiography, gastrointestinal radiography, mammography, and paediatrics.
