The Community's LIBRARIES programme will participate in the inaugural meeting of the European Forum for Implementation of Library Automation (EFILA) which will take place in Brussels on 16 January 1995.

EWOS (European Workshop for Open Systems) is the Expert Group on Library Allocations (EG LIB) aimed at establishing an international harmonized profile in the area of library automation.

EG LIB intends to act as the focal point for European library applications. To meet this goal, EFILA has been initiated by EWOS/EG LIB in collaboration with DG XIII/E-3 of the European Commission.

EFILA intends to create a forum for manufacturers and users of library services to experience concrete implementation expertise from colleagues working in similar fields.

The event will include the following presentations:

- "Setting the scene" - Mr. Erik Lorentz Petersen, EWOS EG LIB chairman;
- "Implementation platforms for information retrieval" - Mr. Paul-Henrik Jorgensen;
- Presentations of projects by delegates to highlight implementation issues.
