Artificial intelligence (AI) often focuses on the development of valuable, automated solutions to problems that would otherwise require human judgement and analysis. In this type of decisional situation, issues can be far from being well-structured. Developing and applying ad-hoc intelligent systems, due to their particular strengths in processing data and providing valuable information, could help humans. Despite significant potential, AI and business intelligence have not received a great deal of research attention. Well-conceived and designed intelligent systems could outperform operations research- or statistical-based supporting tools in complex, qualitative and/or difficult-to-program managerial problems and decisional scenarios. In order to further this, more interdisciplinary and applied contributions are necessary. The event will focus on applied-intelligent systems and how they can support the management of issues faced by organisations, both internally and within their competitive space. For further information, please visit: http://ismis.usal.es
