An event entitled 'Imperial fringe: bones of contention' will take place on 29 November 2012 in London, UK.

Our bones help us move, give us shape and support our body. They are living tissues that rebuild constantly throughout our life. Bones, whether fractured, polished or fused, are used as cultural symbols, suppliers of stem cells, harbingers of joint disease or builders of tooth palace. They form the very building blocks of being human.

There are many classified skeletal disorders. One of the most common is osteoporosis. Also common is scoliosis, a side-to-side curve in the back or spine, often creating a pronounced "C" or "S" shape when viewed on an x-ray of the spine.

The event will be an opportunity for researchers at the forefront of bone research to meet and discuss the latest trends in this field. For further information, please visit:
