A workshop entitled 'Social Web Analytics for Trend Detection' will take place from 28 to 30 November 2013 in Paphos, Cyprus.

Social networks are growing rapidly and offer fertile ground for data mining and analysis. They provide unique information on human interactions and interests, and their analysis is valuable for detecting online trends, events and phenomena.

Methodologies and techniques to retrieve information, databases, preference modeling, graph theory, etc. have already been leveraged and adapted to the Web 2.0. However, open questions remain in terms of introducing new methodologies which will facilitate trend detection. Such methodologies could be used in various fields such as marketing, security, and web search.

The workshop will highlight issues ranging from web data model, information retrieval, web metrics and performance, web mining and warehousing to web monitoring and management. Researchers and practitioners will be able to exchange views on emerging social data analytics. For further information, please visit: http://oswinds.csd.auth.gr/SoWeTrend12/
