A conference entitled 'Excellence in Diabetes' will take place from 6 to 9 February 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey.
The number of diabetics - especially those suffering from Type 2 diabetes -has surged over the last ten years, leading to growing healthcare burden and complications. Fuelled by rapid urbanization, nutrition transition and increasingly sedentary lifestyles, the epidemic has grown in parallel with the worldwide rise in obesity. However, whilst prevention and management remains difficult, the life of an average diabetic is now longer and easier thanks to considerable advances in treatment and understanding of the disease.
