Flexibility in the design of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) will form the theme of a seminar organized by the Commission, DG XVII, in the framework of the THERMIE programme for the promotion of energy efficient technologies. It will take place in Barcelona on 9 March 1995.

The seminar, "Flexibility in HVAC systems design", will cover the design of equipment and systems which are both more energy efficient and more flexible in their response to varying needs for heating or cooling in offices, business premises, dwellings, etc. In particular, the seminar will deal with the possibilities offered by solar energy for the design of low consumption buildings, the development of solar technologies for HVAC systems, and the integration of solar equipment in buildings.

The seminar will be attended by experts from a number of European countries, who will analyse the current HVAC systems market and present various projects involving applications from all over the continent.
