Workshop on "Substitution of fossil fuels by wood waste in the wood-processing industry" and "Biomass as a fuel" study tour

The OPET network, in collaboration with the Commission (DG XVII) and its THERMIE programme for the promotion of energy efficient technologies, is organizing a workshop on "Substitution of fossil fuels by wood waste in the wood-processing industry". It will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 28 April 1995, in parallel with a business assessment study tour on "Biomass as a fuel" on the same day.

The workshop is aimed at the wood-processing industries and at manufacturers of the corresponding conversion technologies from Lithuania and West European countries. It will demonstrate:

- Wood fuel resources, and the environmental, economic and legislative aspects in Lithuania;
- Advanced EU technologies;
- Financial aspects;
- The advantages of wood fuel firing of boilers for the wood-processing industries.

The study tour, "Biomass as a fuel", will visit Lithuanian wood-processing industries which use wood waste as a fuel and which are potential users of biomass technology.
