A European seminar on "Multimodal transport" is being organized by the OPET network, in collaboration with the Commission (DG XVII) and its THERMIE programme for the promotion of energy efficient technologies. It will take place in Bordeaux, France, on 17-18 May 1995.

Multimodal transport refers to the transfer of goods packed in standard containers by means of road, rail, sea or air transport. The seminar will examine multimodal transport technologies and the various factors - economic, social and political - hindering their development. It aims in particular to propose a framework for a common and structured approach to developing a modern and efficient transport system in Europe.
