The science of composting

An international symposium on "The science of composting" will take place in Bologna, Italy, on 30 May to 2 June 1995. It is organized by the Commission (DG XVII) in the framework of its THERMIE programme for energy efficient technologies.

Composting projects within the THERMIE programme will be presented during the symposium. In addition, the following sessions will take place:

- Composting process;
- The use and quality of compost;
- State of the art of composting;
- Round table on legislation;
- Composting as an integrated system of waste management;
- Bioremediation;
- Composting design;
- Marketing and economy.

A technical visit to the composting plant of Faenza will take place after the symposium.
