Network Europe and the information society

A conference on "Network Europe and the information society" will take place in London on 19 July 1995. It is organized by the UK Federal Trust, with sponsorship from the European Commission and British Telecom.

In 1994, the Federal Trust set up a wide-ranging study on the impact of the information age in Europe on business, education, healthcare, entertainment and public administrations. The conference will present the findings of this study, which makes proposals in the field of finance, standardization, competition, regulation and public policy.

The UK government and the Commission will present their reactions to these proposals and will discuss the EU's role in managing these social, political and industrial changes.
