A conference on "Advances in gene therapy, antisense drugs and drug discovery - Medical revolutions in the making" will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, on 31 October to 1 November 1995. It is organized by the Technology Transfer Centre, a member of the VALUE Relay Network, in collaboration with the Strathclyde Institute for Drug Research.

The conference will bring together scientists from academic and industrial organizations and medical professionals to discuss the latest technologies in gene therapy, antisense drugs and drug discovery, and how these technologies will influence future medical treatments. It will highlight Scottish expertise in particular, although it will include notable ongoing research in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Conference topics will include:

- Gene therapy opportunities;
- Gene delivery technology;
- Immune engineering;
- Vaccine development;
- Drug discovery;
- Screening systems;
- Combinatorial chemistry.

Problems relating to intellectual property rights and regulatory constraints will also be highlighted.
