The Scottish Centre for Nanotechnology will hold a one-day seminar on "Microengineering: Applications and opportunities" in Glasgow on 25 October 1995. The seminar is organized by the Technology Transfer Centre, a member of the Commission's Relay Centre Network.

The seminar will examine the findings of a report that assesses the state of the art in microengineering in the USA. The report noted that microengineering is becoming increasingly important in producing components with applications in nearly all industrial sectors. Unless UK companies acquire the capability to produce microengineered components, they will not be able to compete with the USA.
