The Belgian Ministry of Public Health is organizing an international seminar entitled "Radon policy - theory and practice". The seminar, which is financed by the European Commission, will be held in Brussels on 12-13 October 1995.

The aim of the seminar is to highlight key elements of regulatory and practical approaches to radon exposure at work and in other indoor environments, in view of the increasing awareness its potential health effects.

Special interest will be paid to specific communication problems related to the radon issue. The introductory paper, given by Mr. Janssens of the European Commission (DGXI), will summarize the approach adopted by a number of international organizations. The seminar will then go on to examine the practical implications of radon regulation in countries which are implementing a general radon policy and look at the initiatives and approaches adopted in other countries.
