Information day on the understanding and improvement of IT development processes
The event will look at Community-funded projects which have developed technologies to systematically improve software manufacturing processes (e.g. PERFECT, CEMP, REAIMS). The results of these projects should enable large industrial concerns, as well as SMEs, to systematically improve their systems processes and process integration.
The event will cover the essential aspects of software process improvement, including:
- Target oriented quantitative measurement and evaluation of product and process qualities;
- Systematic re-use of software products and processes as a means of increasing productivity and quality;
- Explicit process modelling in order to improve the intellectual control of software development;
- Formalization of software requirements and integration of user-specific empirical knowledge to improve Requirements Engineering Processes (REP).
Examples of software development in the areas of aircraft construction, signal control and telecommunications will be presented and industry representatives will illustrate the practical use and advantages of "Systematic Process Improvement" with regard to predictability, process control, productivity, quality and development time.
