Workshop on proposal development for the Fourth Framework Programme - Ireland

A workshop for proposal development under the Fourth Framework Programme is being organized by Forbairt, the Irish VALUE Relay Centre. The event will take place in Dublin, Ireland, on 26 September 1995.

The workshop is intended to promote the wider participation of Irish industrial and service companies, including SMEs, in the specific programmes of the Fourth Framework Programme for research and technological development and demonstration (1994-1998).

It will present the experience from other Member States which demonstrates that intermediaries, such as technical and financial consultants, technology developers, information specialists and those involved in technology development programmes, have played a significant role in the increased number of companies submitting proposals for Community RTD programmes.

Participants in the workshop will be guided through the process of proposal development using a model proposal developed by the European Commission to assist in the preparation of applications to the Industrial and Materials Technologies programme (BRITE/EURAM III). The workshop will present case histories of Irish proposals illustrating successful strategies and pointing out potential pitfalls.

The workshop will include the following sessions:

- An introduction to the Fourth Framework Programme, including a presentation on BRITE/EURAM III and the Information Technologies Programme;
- Issues in proposal development;
- Proposal assessment;
- The FORBAIRT feasibility grant support scheme for proposal development;
- How to prepare an application for a proposal for an RTD project (BRITE/EURAM III);
- Support services available for those involved in proposal development for the Fourth Framework Programme.
