The seventh Engelberg Forum will take place, in Engelberg, Switzerland, on 26-29 March 1996. The forum, which will be presided by Mrs. Edith Cresson, European Commissioner responsible for science, research and development and education and training, is being organized in collaboration with the European Commission, the European Science and Technology Assembly (ESTA), the European Round Table of Industrialists, the European Science Foundation and the Swiss-Asia Foundation.

The theme of this year's forum, " Europe-Asia, Science and technology for their future", has been chosen to respond to the growing interest, shown by industrial, scientific and economic circles, in understanding the remarkable growth of the economies of Asian countries and in acquiring a greater awareness of its consequences.

The objective of the forum is to provide an opportunity for European and Asian scientific, political and industrial representatives to define the best possible conditions for economic and commercial partnership and for cooperation in scientific, technological and industrial spheres.
