International conference "Green buildings: European Developments"

An international conference on the development of environment-friendly construction techniques in Europe, entitled "Green buildings: European developments", will take place in Sophia Antipolis (Europe's leading "technology park"), France, on 14-15 December 1995. The conference is being organized by SIGMA consultants in collaboration with the Community's SAVE programme (programme for the promotion of energy efficiency in the Community) and the "Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maitrise de l'Energie" (ADEME).

The building sector, along with many others, is today affected by deep-rooted transformations linked to a new awareness of environmental objectives. These transformations are opening up new perspectives and offering new markets. They are notably giving rise, in both the public and private sectors, to the creation of new research activity and trial programmes.

The aims of this conference are: to present the main initiatives underway, in the different European countries, in the field of "Green Buildings"; to encourage a sharing of experiences; and to bring to the fore areas where international cooperation could be particularly beneficial.

The conference will bring together companies, project managers, research laboratories and public bodies. It will, in particular, provide a forum in which European leaders in this field can get to know each other, share ideas and possibly determine areas for future cooperation.
