The fourth International Symposium on Analytical Methodology in the Environmental Field will be held in Zamudio, Spain, from 27 to 29 March 1996. The symposium is being organized jointly by the MAPFRE Foundation and Perkin Elmer Hispania, in cooperation with the Association of Environmental Sciences and Techniques, the Spanish Society for Analytical Chemistry and the University of the Basque country.

The main aim of the symposium will be to highlight the multidisciplinary nature of environmental topics by dealing with subjects of interest to physicists, chemists, biologists, engineers, veterinary surgeons, mathematicians, etc. The symposium will be a suitable forum and meeting point for professionals from various branches of environmental science.

Oral contributions will be made by guest lecturers but other contributions may be presented as posters, in Spanish, French or English.

The programme will cover a range of topics in the following fields:

- Air;
- Water;
- Speciation and residues;
- Environmental chemistry and industry;
- Analytical methodology;
- Environmental management;
- Quality control in hydrographic basins - the results of the SAICA project.

Proposals for contributions are invited on these topics. Several grants may be awarded to cover the registration fee of young researchers presenting a selected poster/communication.
