A joint ECCOMAS conference on numerical methods in engineering and computational fluid dynamics will be held in Paris, France, from 9 to 13 September 1996.

ECCOMAS (European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences) was created to coordinate scientific conferences and other activities in the field of computational methods in applied sciences and particularly in fluid mechanics and engineering. The Community is formed of official representatives from national or European scientific societies and organizations covering most European countries.

The main objective of ECCOMAS'96 will be to provide a common forum for presenting and discussing state-of-the-art in scientific computing applied to engineering sciences, both in and outside Europe. Equal emphasis will be placed on basic methodologies, scientific development and industrial applications. The main conference topics will be:

- Algorithms and numerical techniques;
- Computational fluid dynamics;
- Solid mechanics and applied sciences.

The conference will include invited lectures, invited special technological sessions, contributed papers and mini-symposia to be selected by the scientific committees and exhibits. The special technological sessions will be organized in partnership with industry.

The conference will include presentations on Community research on flow simulation in aeronautics and energy efficiency in process.
