European policy workshop on "Standardization and Disability"
The aim of the workshop is to bring together the various players in the field of standardization and disability (European disability organizations, standardization organizations, European research and development organizations and projects, companies working in the field of information and communication technology, service providers) in order to:
- Present and define priorities for areas of the market for accessible products and services, where standardization issues have to be tackled;
- Define, among these areas, which ones are of major interest for companies and business concerns and which ones require mainly public effort;
- Improve effectiveness of existing standardization by establishing communication mechanisms and channels so that industry can profit from research and development results;
- Highlight methods and ways of making products and services accessible via de facto and formal standards.
Presentations will be given by key representatives from the European Commission, industry, the service sector, the research community, the standardization community and from European user groups.
