Telework - a chance and a challenge for Europe

A European congress entitled "Telework - A chance and challenge for Europe" will take place in Luxembourg on 26-28 June 1996. The congress, which is being supported by the European Commission as part of its global telework policy, will deal with all the issues related to this way of working.

Numerous studies and pilot projects, either completed or presently in progress, will be presented and their conclusions debated within the framework of open discussions and round tables. The various subjects covered by the congress will include:

- A definition of telework, the situation today and the principal actors;
- The sectors with the most interest;
- Social/legal protection and health issues;
- Economic issues;
- Telework as an instrument of international integration and collaboration;
- Logistic and technological issues related to telework;
- Perspectives for the future;
- Training issues.

Moderators will include experienced senior managers, trade union representatives, sociologists, associations representing various economic sectors and representatives of international and European institutions.
