An industrial information and cast-study seminar on "Uncertainty modelling and fuzzy technology" will be held in Manchester, UK, on 7-8 October 1996.

The seminar is organized by the Control Systems Centre, UMIST, on behalf of ERUDIT, a Network of Excellence established by the European Community's specific RTD programme in the field of information technologies (ESPRIT).

The aim of the seminar is to raise awareness of the advantages of uncertainty modelling and fuzzy technology for industry. The following sectors will be addressed:

- Human factors and medicine;
- Mining and fishing;
- Steel and paper production;
- Telecommunications and traffic systems;
- Components and consumer goods;
- Environment;
- Financial and operational procedures;
- Process industries.

Presentations are welcomed on a wide range of topics including fuzzy fault detection and control schemes, fuzzy software and hardware, as well as industrial applications.
