SYNERGY events on international energy cooperation

Throughout 1996, the European Commission, DG XVII, will be hosting a number of international events within the framework of the Community's SYNERGY programme for cooperation with non-member countries in the energy sector (1996-2000).

The following events are scheduled:

- Workshop on transborder collaboration in the natural gas sector: 22-23 April 1996, Bratislava, Slovakia;
- Visit to Sarajevo for power distribution network reconstruction: 1-4 May 1996, Sarajevo, Bosnia;
- ENERGY '96 conference: Investment opportunities in the Middle East: 27-28 May 1996, Halfa, Israel;
- Conference for CIS experts and officials: 13-14 June 1996, Helsinki, Finland;
- Conference on the internal market for Central and East European countries: 20-21 June 1996, Brussels, Belgium;
- Euro-Latinoamerican conference on cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons and electricity: 27-29 June 1996, Caracas, Venezuela;
- EU-China energy industry conference and site visits: 14 October 1996, Beijing, China;
- Gulf cooperation council/seminar on gas: 28-29 October 1996, Muscate, Oman;
- Inauguration of the EU-Albanian Energy Centre: Second semester 1996, Tirana, Albania;
- Seminar on Energy Charter for non-EU Mediterranean countries: Second semester 1996, location as yet unknown;
- EU-Russia energy industry conference: Second semester 1996, location as yet unknown;
- Conference on Polish coal in a competitive market and the social and economic implications of restructuring: Second semester 1996, Katowice, Poland.
