EU regions and the Information Society

The first European conference on "Regions and the Information Society" will take place in Alicante, Spain, on 30-31 May 1996. It is organized by the Institución Ferial de Alicante, with support from the European Commission.

The first European conference on "Regions and the Information Society" will take place in Alicante, Spain, on 30-31 May 1996. It is organized by the Institución Ferial de Alicante, with support from the European Commission.

Sessions will take place on the following:

- Regional telecommunications policy in the European Union;
- Cooperation between the State and the regional authorities in the development of the Information Society;
- Access of the regions to the Information Society.

The viewpoints and experiences of a number of European regions that have implemented a regional telecommunications policy will be presented. These include Flanders in Belgium, Nordrhein Westfallen in Germany, Valencia in Spain, and Scotland.
