As part of the preparations for the forthcoming World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC'97) in Geneva in 1997, the European Commission is hosting a workshop on WRC'97 in Brussels on 5 June 1996. The European Radiocommunications Office will then hold a second workshop on 6 June 1996 in Brussels as part of a study on frequency requirements for the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS).

The aim of the first workshop is to discuss the ideas and initiatives which can be further developed into European common positions for WRC'97.

The second workshop, aimed at frequency managers, operators and manufacturers, will exchange views on UMTS frequency issues and provide feedback on the proposals being developed within the UMTS study.
