A technological exchange meeting for manufacturers and researchers working on the vehicle of the future will be held in Dijon, France, on 19 September 1996, as part of the "Forum Inter-régional de la Sous-Traitance" (FIST). The meeting is organized by ARIST, the INNOVATION Relay Centre in Dijon.

The aim of the meeting is to bring together European manufacturers and researchers who are working on safer, more efficient vehicles and to establish technological partnerships. Sessions in the morning will present a variety of transferable technologies, in two areas: new materials and on-board electronics.

In the afternoon session, presentations of European Community and French assistance programmes for the development of safer and greener vehicles will take place. The two principal presentations will be of the "Car of tomorrow" task force created by the European Commission in 1995 to coordinate research efforts across the Community in vehicle development, and PREDIT II, a French inter-ministerial programme designed to reduce pollution and improve safety.
