An international symposium on "Modern machining technologies and production techniques in the European sub-contracting industry" will be held in Venlo, the Netherlands, on 31 October 1996. It will conclude the largest CRAFT project funded by the European Community's BRITE/EURAM specific RTD programme in the field of industrial materials and technologies.

The CRAFT project brought together 17 companies in the metal and plastic machining business and research institutes from Germany and the Netherlands. Both new products and new production techniques for the supplying industry have been developed by the project partners.

The symposium will present the results of the project, and interested parties can establish contacts with the developers with a view to setting up licence agreements. Five workshops will take place, outlining different aspects of the project:

- Modern machining technologies;
- Product development;
- Improving efficiency in the production process;
- Product improvement;
- Quality management.
