A series of workshops and information days for SMEs interested in participating in the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of industrial materials and technologies (BRITE/EURAM) will be held, in Germany, in October and November 1996. The workshops are being organized by AiF, a member of the CRAFT network of national focal points, based in Cologne.

Participants will be briefed on the Commission's "Technology Stimulation Measures for SMEs" introduced under the Fourth RTD Framework Programme. They will also be provided with information on the preparation of project proposals.

Each workshop will address a specific industrial sector covered by the BRITE/EURAM programme. The workshops are scheduled as follows:

- Metal materials: 10 October, Wiesbaden;
- Automation: 22 October, Aachen;
- Metal processing: 24 October, Hannover;
- Mechanical engineering: 28 October, Frankfurt;
- Building and construction: 5 November, Bonn;
- Welding and joining: 5 November, Hannover.
