Environment in Europe

A series of conferences on "Environment in Europe" will be held in Brussels, Belgium, from 5 to 7 March 1997. The conferences, which are being organized by the "Club de Bruxelles" with the support of DG XI of the European Commission, will be held on 5,6 and 7 March 1997.

Each conference will be addressed by senior officials from the European Commission, national and regional governments, MEPs and representatives of environmental groups. Speakers will examine current issues relating to European policy in these areas. Participants will also receive studies and documentation relating to the areas of environmental policy under discussion.

The three conferences scheduled will cover the following topics:

- The new European strategy for waste management (5 March 1997);
- Improving air quality in Europe (6 March 1997);
- The new policy on noise pollution (7 March 1997).
