Success of first CORDIS Correspondents Day
- Enhanced dissemination by means of new products and services such as mini-CORDIS on diskette, CORDIS on CD-ROM, publications, gateways, relay centres and videotex;
- New promotion efforts based on user surveys and marketing strategy, including awareness and training activities and creation of a CORDIS User Bulletin;
- Improved information content, including more complete coverage of Community R&D activities, interfaces with other R&D information sources, and services better adapted to the requirements for the exploitation of results;
- Implementation of the "New CORDIS" service with the development and implementation of a centralized database production system, new user interfaces and a dissemination environment based on Open Systems Architecture.
In line with the above goals, the role of the CORDIS Correspondents will be twofold:
- To assist the Commission by collecting feedback from CORDIS users and by acting as a "test bed" for new CORDIS products and services;
- To promote the awareness and use of CORDIS services via local partners in European R&D, training centres, the organization of promotional events, information multipliers.
The meeting included the presentation of a CORDIS user training package plus demonstrations of the CORDIS databases, of a "mini-CORDIS" prototype, and of an experimental electronic guide to "European Science and Technology" based on hypertext software.(a) Commission of the European Communities
