Political economy and the environment - Friends or foes?

An interdisciplinary symposium on the environment will be held at the University of Dublin, Ireland, on 14 May 1997. The topic of the day will be "Political economy and the environment - Friends or foes?".
The symposium will take the form of a debate and is an effort to communicate state-of-the-art ideas, on topics of current intellectual and practical concern, relating to the environment and environmental protection. Mr. Tom Garvey from DG XI of the European Commission (Environment, nuclear safety and civil protection) will be participating in a panel discussion of environment policy in Europe today.
